Creamy Key Lime Pie Smoothie

For a little taste of heaven, you’ve got to try this key lime pie flavor in a smoothie. The creaminess and tart lime flavor of this smoothie really does make you feel like you are drinking a glass of liquefied key lime pie. This is almost dessert. But it’s too healthy for that.

And there’s something about lime in smoothies. The citrus taste of lime gives every smoothie an added zing and freshness. If you’ve never added lime to your smoothie, today’s the day.

This key lime pie smoothie is completely guilt-free and totally healthy. It’s delicious and creamy, made even fluffier and creamier because I’ve added an avocado—which you can’t taste, by the way. Adding one avocado adds a whopping 975 milligrams of potassium. If that number doesn’t mean anything, then compare it to a banana. Everybody thinks of bananas when they want potassium, and bananas have 487 milligrams compared to avo’s 975. Avocado wins.

Here’s an avocado tip: as soon as your avo becomes ripe, put it in the refrigerator because they go from almost-ripe to too-ripe, too fast. If you ever use only part of the avocado, then cover the remaining part tightly to keep the air away from it. Leave the pit in, and sprinkle a little lemon juice over it to keep it from getting to dark and yucky.

  • 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and diced
  • ½ cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 Tablespoon agave nectar
  • Ice – to your preferred taste
Instructions
  1. In a blender, puree all ingredients together until smooth. Now enjoy the goodness, garnished with a lime slice if you want to get fancy.
